Background of the Study
Entertainment programs on radio and television have become an integral part of daily life for many people in Bida LGA, Niger State. These programs, including dramas, reality shows, music, and talk shows, serve as not only sources of entertainment but also as platforms for shaping societal values. The content portrayed in entertainment programs influences the social behavior, attitudes, and norms within a community. This study seeks to examine the impact of entertainment programs on the social values of residents in Bida LGA, focusing on how such programs contribute to or challenge existing cultural norms, ethical values, and social behaviors.

1.2 Statement of the Problem
While entertainment programs are widely consumed, the extent to which they affect social values—particularly in rural areas like Bida—is not well understood. Some argue that these programs may promote negative values, such as materialism, violence, or immorality, while others believe they provide valuable insights that foster positive social change. This study aims to explore the specific impact of entertainment programs on the social values of people in Bida LGA.

1.6 Significance of the Study
This study will provide valuable insights into the role of entertainment media in shaping the social fabric of communities, particularly in rural areas like Bida LGA. The findings will contribute to understanding how entertainment can be leveraged for positive social change and how media practitioners can be more responsible in the creation and dissemination of content.

1.7 Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study focuses on the residents of Bida LGA and their consumption of entertainment programs. It will examine both radio and television programs. Limitations include the challenge of distinguishing between entertainment content and other forms of media influence on social values.
